Why I built the site
In the Summer of 2018 I was encourage my my Pastoral Mentor to consider full-time ministry. I held lunch with a veteran church planter and Seminary dean where I was encourage to pray about attending seminary. After coming “undercare” of Chesapeake Presbytery and receiving financial assistance from MNA Unity Fund I enrolled at Reformed Theological Seminary DC. I was working as a Youth Director for my church, started a new position with the Lower school from that same church, and worked full-time as a tech at a large health insurance company. Working two part-time jobs, taking classes, and working full-time in the middle of the pandemic was not ideal but I felt a call.
I planned to take a few credits a semester to determine how much course work I could do with these many plates spinning. I found 6 credit hours were the best I could do until I could find a way to reduce my workload. This was not God’s sovereign will as I didn’t find an opportunity to reduce my workload and take more coursework. The best option I could perceive was to seek financial assistance for taking full-time coursework. This site was meant to be my resource for collecting donations for this purpose. God chose rather to provide for our financial needs with a promotion in my secular role.
Now I plan to use this site to update those interested in my ministry journey as well as post content related to the calling to racial unity Christ has placed on my heart. I don’t know what God will do with this platform but it is my prayer that I can encourage and inspire those who visit to learn more about biblical unity, the African American Confessional experience, and the journey of the Thomas family. Thank you for reading this blog and lifting us up in your prayers. I hope to have more to share soon. God bless.
